Christina, who struggled with gambling-related harms in the past, is now living in recovery. After gambling for 15 years, she hit rock bottom and started her journey of recovery. At first, she had a hard time connecting, as there weren’t a lot of women talking in a space that consisted mostly of men. She wanted to connect with other women who have walked the same road.

Christina therefore created The Broke Girl Society, a community for women struggling with problem gambling to have a space where they can feel safe to talk about their journey without fear of judgment. Cook regularly produces compelling experience-focused content on multiple platforms, including a podcast, YouTube channel and blog. 

“It’s my hope that we can erase the stigma and shame so women will feel safe seeking the help they need without fear of judgment.”
